Welcome! Thanks for visiting with me again this year. I won't spend time on the commonplace glass ornaments available at major thrift-type stores. Rather, I'm digging around the internet to find the most unique assortments of glass Christmas ornaments for this Christmas season. Good hunting! Charlotte Ogelsby
Holiday Fun. One of the moments I most cherish, is pulling out all the glass ornaments and recalling the memories each represents with family. In this column, I'll publish fun, boutique websites that celebrate something special about the holidays. To start with, let's enjoy some Christmas songs to really get us in the mood.

Family Christmas Gift Ideas

When I was working on my gift list last year, I realized that there were individual gifts I needed to buy, and then we also had family gifts.  There were about 10 families we wanted to give a little something to, so I started thinking of this issue as its own category.  Surely everyone has the same problem -- what to give a family as a whole.  We've all done cheese, fruit baskets, the horribly maligned fruit cake gift....I wanted something unique.  It's fine and good to send something off directly from a catalog.  These gifts let the family know you were thinking about them, and sort of acknowledge the relationship.  Good enough.  Sometimes, that's all I have energy for, and I've never blamed my girlfriends for doing the same.

So I had a bright idea while searching for something else, and I'll share it here: family Christmas ornaments. The positives: it's unique; it's highly personal; it's something they'll use; and it keep giving each year. I like the fact that each year they'll pull that ornament out and remember us remembering them. Personalized for the whole family, these glass family Christmas ornaments are hard to find and truly unique. I was able to get everyone's names together, and then write a little message on the back of the ornaments from our family to their family.

I did this for 3 family friends last year, and boy could I tell the difference in the thank-you notes. You're not limited to the usual resin which is kind of cheap. I mean, if someone's sending you a $45 cheese plate or an $80 food basket, you can't send them a $15 resin ornament. It just doesn't work. I recommend glass personalized family ornaments because they look expensive, but not all of them are. You can spend as little as $25 or as much as $90 for the Radko family ornaments. They've got a good range in terms of price, and the glass ones are clearly a well-thought-out upper-end family Christmas gift.
